Welcome. I am happy to have you in my class. Let’s work together to have a successful school year. I believe in maintaining an orderly environment that is conductive to learning and high achievement. All Art students will learn concepts, elements, principles, and creative strategies that build their confidence to succeed in Art. Students are responsible for their behavior and academic progress in class and will be given every opportunity to achieve success.
This class will teach you strategies to better your artistic skills and give you the opportunity to experiment with several mediums, themes, and subjects. Most importantly you will be introduced to practices that will help you become a right brain thinker, a problem solver, an innovator, and a creative individual.
Art Art includes design, drawing, painting, printmaking, crafts, and sculpture techniques employing various media.Awareness andsensitivity to the environment are promoted through learning to see and apply the art elements creatively.Art elements investigated are color, value, texture, form, line, and space. The design principles--emphasis, unity, balance, variety, movement, and proportion--are stressed to develop skills of visual discrimination. Art appreciation is related to cultural and historical developments, past and present. Critical analysis of artwork is addressed. Experiences dealing with expression through design, drawing, painting, printmaking, crafts and sculpture are intensified as we progress. Creativity and originality are stressed. Art history and appreciation are emphasized in relation to past and present cultures. Career possibilities such as graphics, fine arts and commercial design are introduced. Artwork intended for exhibition, display, and competition will be prepared.
